2005 Petersen’s 4 Wheel & Offroad

Ultimate Adventure

For 21 years, I have been involved in four wheeling and a supporter of the offroad industry. During this time, I have been very fortunate to have been involved in a variety of challenging off-road events and competitions. One of the highlights was winning the Top Truck Challenge of 2000 in a Jeep known as “The Heepee” with the help of axle expert Mike Cox. Supporting this event, The 2005 Peterson’s 4 Wheel & Offroad Ultimate Adventure is also one of the best events of my career.

My standard for an acceptable off road vehicle is tougher than most. The goal is to build a rig that can handle the most challenging trails available, and to transport my crew to and from the event, which can mean hundreds of miles of highway driving before the actual event begins. To be able to build a vehicle that will do both well is very rewarding.

The 2005 Ultimate Adventure gave us the opportunity to test our vehicles on the road as well as on the trail. From 50 MPH winding roads to obstacles like rock ledges, loose climbs, creek beds, and dusty two track paths, The 2005 Ultimate Adventure tested our rigs in every way.

Sam’s Offroad Shop manager Rick Franco, Axle Tech Mike Cox and I really had a blast meeting new friends, experiencing new trails, and testing our Jeeps to the fullest limit.

This experience has also reinforced our commitment to use over 50 years of combined Offroading experience to build dream machines for our clients that will allow them to be street legal, safe and comfortable, and also offer them the ability to view some of the most beautiful sights in the country from the trails only offroaders will ever see.

Over the years we have seen a push to build monster crawlers that can take most of the challenge out of four wheeling. The down sides of those machines can include not being street legal, being too large to fit on most trails and between trees, and they must be trailered to the events. From our experience, this is not what most four wheelers are looking for.

We left the event encouraged and excited about the industry and the possibilities ahead in the four wheeling industry. Today Sam’s Offroad Equipment in Tulsa Oklahoma is prepared and committed to helping you build your dream machine to experience all that four wheeling has to offer, as well as offering a reliable vehicle that will get you to the trails and back safely.

I hope you enjoy the pictures and we look forward to seeing you out on the trails.
